Instagram bios are short, snappy descriptions of yourself that appear on your profile. They're meant to be descriptive and enticing, but sometimes it's hard to know exactly how to write them. Here are some tips for creating an eye-catching bio that will encourage people to follow you!
Make sure your bio is relevant to your target audience
Make sure your bio is relevant to your target audience.
If you're a fashion blogger, for example, there's no point in writing about fitness (unless you really want to). Your bio should reflect who you are and what you do.
Keep it short and sweet.
Reminder: Instagram bios have a character limit!
Don't use cute or indecipherable fonts
You have a limited amount of space to tell people who you are, what you do and why they should follow you. So don't waste it on cute or indecipherable fonts. Instead, use a font that is easy to read and easy to remember. Your followers will be more likely to find you when they search for your username in the future if they can easily see what it says—and if they can remember it!
Don't make your bio too personal
Your Instagram bio is probably one of the most overlooked parts of your profile, but it can make or break whether or not someone decides to follow you. If you want to get more followers and engagement on your posts as a result, here are some tips:
Don't make it too personal. Don't mention how old or young you are or whether or not you're single—people don't care! You can say which city/state/country you live in if it's relevant to what type of content your account has.
Don't mention your marital status, children, pets (unless this is an account for them), political views—anything like that will make people think twice before following someone who seems too judgmental about their opinions.
Use the "Edit Profile" tab to add links to your bio
If you want to link to your website, Facebook page, Twitter profile, or other social media accounts in your bio—or if you have a blog and need people to be able to find it—you can do so by clicking "Edit profile" and then selecting "Add Links." Enter the URL of the link and select an icon for it (if desired).
If you're looking for more creative ways to add links into your bio that are still relevant but don't look like ads, consider adding links that relate directly back to what's going on in your Instagram post. For example:
If you're posting about how much fun it was at the beach today, include a link where people who want more information about this place can learn more about it (and possibly buy tickets for next summer).
If someone asks a question in the comments section of one of your photos and there's an answer on your website with additional resources for them, include a link within their comment so they don't have to go hunting around for answers themselves. Hint: Linktree is an excellent alternative to have all of your sites in one place.

A good Instagram bio is short, descriptive and enticing. It should also be used to your advantage—to promote your business, show off your personality and attract new followers.
Short: The most important thing about an Instagram bio is that it’s short! Remember that people are scrolling through their feeds quickly—you don’t want them to miss what you have to say about yourself or your brand. A good rule of thumb is around 3-4 lines for the text in your bio. This can vary depending on how many photos you post per day (more photos = more lines in the bio). If you have several thousand followers, feel free to go a little bit longer with the description; but if not, keep it concise so that people know what they’re getting into when they click through to follow you!
If you are looking to boost your engagement on Instagram, a good bio is essential. A well-written bio will help you attract more followers and encourage them to interact with your posts.
