Instagram is a social media platform that can be used for business and personal use. It's easy to get started on Instagram as long as you have an understanding of how its functions work. Let me guide you through the basics of how to set up your account and get started with growing it into a successful marketing tool.

The key to Instagram is to learn how your audience interacts and to grow your social media presence steadily over time: you can't rush it!

It is important to remember that there isn’t one set way of doing things when it comes to social media marketing – what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. That said, there are a few basic principles that should always be followed:

  • Find your niche – No matter what kind of business you have or service you provide, there is always going to be something specific about your brand that makes it stand out from everything else out there in the world today (or at least make people think so). This could mean specializing in an industry trend such as eco-friendly products; creating content based around famous historical figures; or even just posting pictures every day showing off your adorable puppy! Whatever niche works best for you though will ultimately determine what type of accounts/people follow yours regularly so make sure they align with this goal before uploading anything new onto Instagram!

Growing an Instagram account takes time, but having a plan will help you grow faster.

If you're like me, you're probably eager to grow your account as quickly as possible. But I've learned that it's better to take my time and grow slowly. One of the most common mistakes people make is trying to get new followers in an unsustainable way. For example, if you want to get more likes on photos, don't just post a lot of selfies in the hope that people will like them because they think you're pretty or handsome. This strategy works for some people but not for everyone—and most likely won't work at all when your audience has already seen all those selfies before!

You also don't want to be afraid of experimenting with different strategies. If something doesn't work, try something else! The best Instagram accounts have found what works for them—and then stuck with it until they got where they wanted to go

Create an effective bio.

  • Make it short and sweet

I know you want to include a million links, but being concise is way more effective. Limit yourself to your website and blog, social media pages, location (if not obvious), and a call-to-action that encourages engagement with the content you post. You should also avoid using hashtags in your bio (they’re better suited for posts).

Create a theme and color scheme.

  • Choose a color scheme

A color scheme is the combination of two or more colors that you use throughout your Instagram page. You can have one main color and then use accent colors to add interest, or you can choose a different neutral for each product in your shop (for example, white for jewelry and brown for clothing). Either way, make sure that the colors work well together so that they look cohesive instead of messy.

  • Choose a brand identity color

If you do create multiple themed looks and styles for your Instagram feed—such as one theme for all photos taken by friends and another theme for photos taken by professional photographers—choose one specific brand identity color. This might be a shade from your business logo; it could also be another shade entirely if it fits better with your overall aesthetic or matches other products/services offered by the business on Instagram (like black). Use this consistent branding throughout all images posted by anyone affiliated with the company using an app like Canva or PicMonkey is helpful to get you started!

Use the correct hashtags.

Okay, so you have your Instagram account set up and you're ready to start posting. Now what?

First of all, let's get the most important part out of the way: hashtags!

Hashtags are essential for promoting your content on Instagram. They help people find photos based on what they're interested in, so it's important to use relevant hashtags that are also popular in your industry. If a hashtag isn't used often or doesn't have many followers, then it won't be very effective at reaching new audiences. Here are some guidelines:

  • Use 3-5 relevant hashtags per post. Keep in mind that these should be unique tags specific to your photo not generic ones (If you post an image of a dog a tag like #CuteDog is great). You want people who love cute dogs but don’t follow you yet to easily discover new content from yours without having to scroll through dozens of unrelated posts first; thus why we recommend sticking with 3-5 pertinent tags per post instead of 7+ generic ones like “#cutedog #maltesedog #pomeranian” etcetera...

Use the most popular hashtags in your niche. These will be different depending on what you’re posting about, but they are usually very specific (like #photography or #india). We recommend looking at top posts in your category to see what tags get used a lot. Just make sure they're not generic ones like “#travel”!

Focus on engaging with your audience.

The most successful Instagram accounts are ones that make you feel like you’re in the room with them, watching as awesome things happen. Whether it be a celebrity following you back on Twitter or a friend inviting you to go out for drinks after work, feeling like you have a personal relationship with someone is incredibly satisfying.

When building an Instagram community, one of the best ways to get people talking and interacting with your account is by responding to comments left by followers. You should respond quickly (no later than 24 hours) and be as genuine as possible so that it feels like they were talking directly to you and not just typing into thin air.

This makes your followers feel valued, which is important for building trust between yourself and other users on Instagram. In addition to responding quickly, ask for feedback from time-to-time! It gives them something concrete they can do if they ever want to show their appreciation for something specific about your brand or product/service offering.

Be consistent with your posts.

You need to be consistent with your posts. You don't want to be the person who posts once a week and then disappears for three months, because that's not going to help you gain any traction or engagement.

Try posting at the same times every day, or use a scheduling platform like Later or IPreview that allows you to schedule in advance so that you can ensure regularity in your posting habits.

Take advantage of Instagram Stories.

Instagram Stories is a great feature that lets you post photo and video updates that disappear after 24 hours (They will stick around longer with highlights). Your followers can comment, like and share your story.

Use stories to interact with your audience. If you're at an event, use Instagram Stories to give them behind-the-scenes access to your life as a blogger or social media influencer by posting photos of what you're doing at the event (and tagging everyone who's in the picture). This gives followers another way to connect with you and feel like they are part of something special.

You can also use stories for product promotion: Posting a few minutes of video showing off your new lipstick or sunglasses will get people interested in seeing it up close and personal so they'll click through for more information about where to buy it themselves!

Post when people are most active on Instagram.

Let's say you post at 8:00 PM, hoping to get the most likes and comments. But what if your audience is asleep or busy watching TV? You could be missing out on tons of engagement because your post isn't being seen by the right people at that moment in time.

The good news is that Instagram has made it easy to figure out when exactly people are online by showing you the top posts on your home feed. If there's a photo receiving over 200 likes, chances are it's getting seen by more than one person!

Use the analytics/Insight section on Instagram to see when your posts are getting the most engagement. It may take some trial and error to get into the swing of things but you'll get the hang of it.

Don't forget to have fun!

Instagram is a fun platform. It's a great way to share photos with your friends, family, and followers. Don't forget to have fun with your posts!

  • Use different filters to make your photo stand out from the rest

  • Use hashtags to tag your location or topic in the photo

  • Use emojis to express your emotions

  • Use stories to share photos, videos and text with your followers

Instagram is a lot of work! But if you keep these tips in mind, your account will surely become more popular with time. Remember to have fun and be creative with every post. It's important not only for the quality of your posts but also for building a relationship with your audience.
